No physiotherapists are not called doctors because they do not have MD or MBBS.
They are not medical doctors who give medicine and do surgery. They only treat where there is inabiltiy in movement.
To be a doctor, one needs to do MBBS and/or MD.

BPT offered by SRM College is a 54 months course and the seat intake is 120. The total fees for the whole course is INR 7.88 Lakhs. No completion of a BPT programme does not award one with title 'doctor' in medical sense yet a graduate shall hold a professional qualification in Physiotherapy. Students are trained in many aspects of physical therapy as a way of evaluating patients and treating musculoskeletal conditions, neurological conditions, cardiopulmonary cases and also other co-morbid diseases with exercise, manual therapy among many other modalities.

One of reasons Bachelor of Physiotherapy course is difficult is theoretical knowledge to be gained by students. Students have to focus on minute details of what happens in human body, starting from musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems to many other functions of body.
