To prepare for a competitive exam like MAT, it is never enough to study from the course books only. Given that, the nature of questions is vastly varied across Data Interpretation, Quantitative Aptitude, English and Logical Reasoning, it is but necessary to refer to secondary reading and extra study material. Referring to extra question banks and practicing additional MAT sample questions is always beneficial.

To get 9 Band score in IELTS reading you should
- Use word chunking, minimise rereading, and also use skimming and scanning.
- Expanding your vocabulary.
- Familiarise yourself with various texts.

Read IELTS English texts daily. You should practice skimming to get main ideas. Also, learn scanning to find specific details like names or numbers. This will help you in actual IELTS reading. Here, you do not need to pause to look up every single difficult word or phrase in the dictionary.
Watch your time closely.

The confusing one is True/False/Not Given. Many students make mistakes there. You also get Matching Headings where you give title to paragraphs. You must learn to skim (read fast) because text is very long.
