Match Day is an annual event held on every third Friday of March. This event is just held for graduating medical students around the country. During this event, these graduates open their envelopes to reveal where they matched for their residencies. 

These residency programs last for about 3-7 years. These residencies are usually based at hospitals. The residency programs are typically the first jobs of the medical graduates out of their medical school. The residency match rate of Stanford medical graduates is about 98%.

ACT or SAT test scores are required for all undergraduate courses including Medicine & Health Sciences Courses at Stanford University. The university reviews the application using either self-reported or official scores. 

If the students like to send their official scores, they need to use some codes such as: 

  • SAT PROFILE/TOEFL Code number: 4704 

  • ACT Code number: 0434 

The test scores will be considered official by the university only when they must be sent directly from the ACT or the College Board.

International students must have a high school Diploma or the equivalent in order to enroll at Stanford University. Students must achieve a high-level study across 5 core liberal arts and Science areas such as: 

  • English: 4 years of study, emphasis on writing and literature 

  • Mathematics: 4 years of study, fundamental skills in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, additional mathematical preparation such as mathematical preparation 

  • History/Social Studies3 or more years of study, writing of essays 

  • Science: 3 or more years of study, must include biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, human anatomy, and environ

Stanford University does provide financial aid to international students but with a very limited amount. Students who wish to apply for financial aid must make the indication regarding the same on the admission application form. Financial aid is provided from institutional funds based on the family's financial circumstances.  

Please Note: International students who do not mention the need for financial aid in the application form will not be considered eligible for the aid throughout their undergraduate course at Stanford University.

Stanford University provides an average budget for the undergraduate students who are unmarried, financially dependent on parents, living in a residence hall or off-campus or attending full-time for Autumn, Winter and Spring quarters.

The students are absolutely allowed to pursue medical school while being a student of Human Biology Major. This degree of Bachelor of Science focuses on scientific and technical studies and requires completion of course work and specializations such as: 

  • Biological sciences 

  • Physical sciences 

  • Mathematics 

  • Computer science 

  • Engineering 

The degree is known to be flexible as the students can attend graduate or professional school, such as medical school along with studying Human Biology major. Hence, students must familiarize themselves with all the requirements of the programme before applying for it.

Established in 1885, Stanford University was named as Leland Stanford Junior University. This university was established in memory of Jane who was Leland Stanford's only child Leland Jr. When his child was just 15 years old, he died of typhoid fever.

Jane and Leland Stanford after their son's death determined that they would use their wealth to do something for other people's children. Their purpose of building this university was to promote public welfare.

Stanford opened its doors on Oct 1, 1891, with some 555 students enrolled in the first year.
