Established in 1885, Stanford University was named as Leland Stanford Junior University. This university was established in memory of Jane who was Leland Stanford's only child Leland Jr. When his child was just 15 years old, he died of typhoid fever.
Jane and Leland Stanford after their son's death determined that they would use their wealth to do something for other people's children. Their purpose of building this university was to promote public welfare.
Stanford opened its doors on Oct 1, 1891, with some 555 students enrolled in the first year.

This involves good academic track record (average GPA of 3.75), good GMAT (average 738) or good GRE scores, 5 to 10 years of good quality of work experience which proves leadership. Hindu Students Association at Stanford University is dedicated association that brings together students interested in learning about Sanatan Dharma and allowing them to meet like-minded people. Yes, while studying at Stanford University, international students can work part-time. To be eligible for on-campus employment, students must be enrolled full-time. They can only work up to 20 hours or fewer per week when the school is in session. But, during the holidays and vacations, students can work more than 20 hours per week.
