Candidates who have also secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Masters Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science, etc. Are also eligible to appear for NET. The Other Backward Classes belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe/ persons with disability category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Masters degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

Polytechnic teachers are also appointed through Public Civil Service (PCS) Examination Test. There is no uniformity in qualifications. Some states the Technical Teachers Exam (TTE) to be passed, and some allow a Bachelor of Education some require a Bachelor of Technology only. Yes, of course you are qualified to apply for a position as a secondary school teacher in a government school. However, you are eligible to apply for the position of secondary school English teacher. This is because your master's is in English literature.
