No, Indian students do not need a private medical insurance, to study in the UK, assuming the duration of their course is more than 6 months and they hold the UK student visa.

Students needing a UK study visa, for higher education in the country, are required to pay a mandatory fee worth GBP 776 (INR 91.5 K) per year, in the form of Immigration Health Surcharge or IHS. This gives students, access to the UK's National Health Service (NHS), which takes care of all emergency medical needs.

Students are advised to register with a General Practitoner or GP, upon arrival in the UK, which deals with most general health problems.

Yes, Indian students enrolled in UK can work a maximum of 20 hours per week, during the session. However, there is no limit to the number of hours one can work during vacations or semester breaks, giving some much-needed flexibility to students.

International students are advised to stay within the work hours limit, as exceeding the same can lead to the cancellation of the UK student visa, and subsequently deportation from the UK.

Indian students, visting the UK for the first time, encounter a number of challenges over the course of their studies, such as adverse weather conditions, homesickness, adapting to a new culture and getting used to a different academic style, among other things.

To overcome these, students are advised to pack heavy, warm clothes, suitable to withstand the lowest of tempreatures, look for Indian Student Associations and Organizations on campus, or nearby, and engage with campus support or the International Student Support Office, for any help.

The cost of living in Sweden is a little like the UK, but it depends on the city. Big cities like Stockholm and London are expensive, especially for rent. Sweden gives free healthcare and public services, so some costs are less. Smaller cities in Sweden are a bit cheaper than big UK cities.
