India's fourth President, Varahagiri Venkata Giri, was an alumnus of University College Dublin. This scholarship is granted in his honour to successful applicants from India who are eligible to pursue a full-time course here. This covers around 50 to 100% of the students' tuition costs. The University College Dublin takes approximately two to six weeks before making a decision on the applications that have been completed and submitted. However, this can take longer during peak times. The applications are processed in the order they are completed.
In all cases, UCD recommends that an applicant must apply to his / her chosen course early, especially if the admission has to be taken into a competitive programme and a visa is required to study in Ireland.
