Hi Santosh, The best way to prepare for UPSC is to start from your ncert books from class 6 to 12th mainly Science and social studies. Or you can join UPSC coaching classes at Delhi for better guidance. There are many coaching institutes in Delhi, but bajiram and ravi is the top of them. Best of luck.

GATE is an examination to test your technical knowledge in a particular field of study. Clearing GATE with a good score can land you in technical jobs in PSUs and also opens doors for you to undertake research in reputed institutions like the IITs. UPSC Civil service is a completely different job profile which does not include anything of technical nature unless you opt for technical paper as your optional subject. UPSC CSE tests your overall knowledge in every field from History and geography to international relations. Complete your degree and then:
Step 1: Determine your mind that you are ready to give your heart and soul to it. Even ready to spend 1 to 1.5 years with reading.Step 2: Determine if you want to take UPSC coaching or self-study and must know that the institute is just for guidance and you only have to study.
Step 3: Start seeing daily news at night in Rajya Sabha TV at 9 pm from today itself (available on YouTube).
Step 4: Have policy of one subject, one book and don't heap up books.
Step 5: Thorough revision of the same material.

Remove misconceptions of getting advantage from your graduation course in UPSC because it's nature is completely different. complete degree as soon as possible and start preparing for UPSC.
