2. Have obtained at least 45% marks in best four subjects (excluding Environmental Studies of WBCHSE) for General candidates, and at least 40% marks for SC/ST/Person with Disability (Disability 40% or more).
3. Candidates passed 10+2 from a Board other than WBCHSE, ISC, CBSE, Rabindra Mukto Vidyalay, and NIOS must obtain an "EQUIVALANCE CERTIFICATE" from the office of the Registrar, University of Calcutta.
4. Foreign students with a last qualifying eligibility degree from a Foreign Board must apply in writing to the undersigned, mentioning all previous degrees, mark sheets, certificates, and syllabus of the last qualifying examination eligibility degree.

The University of Calcutta is strict about the eligibility requirements for the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. Lateral Entry) program. The requirements include:
For admission into the 2nd year (lateral entry), outstanding vacant seats + additional 10% of total seats from Category-2/ Category-3 are available.
The duration of study for 'Category-2/Category-3' students admitted in the 2nd year will be of 6 Semesters (starting from the 3rd Semester) in three academic years.
'Workshop' and 'Engineering Drawing' will be treated as non-credit mandatory courses, to be cleared by a student before the commencement of his/her 7th Semester classes.
The candidate should have a Diploma in a relevant field with at least 55% marks.
The admission matrix is given in TABLE-2 for Categories-'1', '2' and '3'.
The University has a domicile policy, where 80% of the unreserved seats are earmarked for West Bengal domicile candidates.
