The rank required to get admission in IIT Bombay depends on the course and the category of the candidate. IIT Bombay offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes in engineering, science, management, design, and humanities. The admission to these programmes is based on the scores of national-level entrance exams, such as JEE Advanced, GATE, CEED, CAT, GMAT, JAM, etc. For the B.Tech programme, the admission is based on the AIR (All India Rank) in JEE Advanced, followed by the JoSAA counselling. The rank varies every year depending on the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats. Candidates need to secure a rank in nearly the top 2,00,000 (including all categories) students in JEE Main. Only these students get a chance to sit for JEE Advanced and become eligible for admission to IITs. In the JoSAA Counselling 2023, closing rank for the B.Tech CSE programme at IIT Bombay in the final round of JEE Advanced 2023 counselling was 67 for the general category.
