Yes slightly better than sastra university  as far fees is concerned  the fees is slightly less than sastra university. You can get more engineering streams as compared to sastra and curriculum is good no burden on the students as far as exams is concerned.  You can get good industrial knowledge  in thus university and faculty is also far better than any pvt university as far as main campus is concerned.   From placement perspective salary around 20 Lacs is given upto 60 percent students and uptov50 Lacs to 5 to 10 percent student which is also  a big deal as compared to sastra university.

SASTRA University has a very strict process for admission,   divided into steam I and stream II. Stream I consists of 70% of the total seats available, and is based on the combination of your JEE and 10+2 scores. While, Stream II consists of 30% of the total seats and is based on your 12th Board Examination marks. Also, incase you are an applicant under the Stream II, you must complete the admission process within 2-3 hours after you find your name in the merit list.

SASTRA university is a better choice as it has a better nirf ranking which ensures that it provides better educational facilities than other universities in the area. But this does not gurantee that Periyar Maniammai University would be a lesser good. Both universities have their pros and cons. 

The minimum cutoff for BA LLB (Hons.) at Kirit P. Mehta School of Law is 85 marks in Common Law Admission Test exam. However, the school accepts students through three entrance exams: Common Law Admission Test, Law School Admission Test, and National Law Aptitude Test . The cutoff information for each entrance exam may be different, and the highest score in any of these exams will be considered for admission.

The duration of the course is 3 years with 6 semesters and the students are placed in different reputed companies like Zoho, Amazon, etc., . With average salary package of about Rs.2 Lacs - 4.5 lakhs.The fee structure is slightly higher in SASTRA when compared to the Periyar Manianmai University but most of the students prefer SASTRA for it's quality of education and placement in the company with minimum 4 LPA.SASTRA is accredited with A+  by NAAC and Periyar Manianmai University is accredited with B by NAAC.Thus, I prefer SASTRA over Periyar Manianmai University.
