SRM Medical College MBBS application process starts with applying for the NEET UG exam. Once the candidate has qualified NEET, they can register for AIQ counselling, with SRM Medical College MBBS as their first preference college. After the counselling process, a seat allotment letter is sent to the shortlisted candidates, based on the merit list released by MCC. The candidates have to report to the campus with the allotment letter and required documents within the stipulated time. The process ends with the payment of the fees.

The period of first 4.5 years of MBBS at SRM Medical College is divided into three phases, after foundation course of one month. The first phase covers Pre-clinical subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry etc. The second phase covers Para-clinical subjects such as Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology etc. The third phase covers clinical subjects General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics, Dermatology etc. It is in this phase that the students also have to choose an elective.

The cut-off fluctuates because of a variety of factors, like the number of students appearing for NEET, difficulty level of the exam, total number of MBBS seats, number of students choosing SRM Medical College as their first preference college, etc.

Admission to most programs is by a national entrance exam administered by authorized or statutory boards or organizations, or by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (previously SRM University). A few programs have direct admissions. Apart from the aforementioned, obtaining the minimal marks in the qualifying exam is another prerequisite for admission eligibility.Even if they choose not to take the SRMJEEE, any applicant who meets the requirements for the SAT or IIT JEE Main will be admitted straight.

The minimum eligibility criteria for MBBS at the medical college is for a candidate to have scored 50% (for the general category) in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in Class 12.
