Software's are involved as once a booking is done done the same needs to be updated with all concerned departments immediately to avoid confusion hence a software is required.
List of software involved in ticketing/Reservations are:

I would advise you to look for UTM, Shillong a university which is famous for its BBA Hospitality, Travel & Tourism program. This program curriculum is great and will help you to acquire a thorough knowledge and understanding of Marketing, Sales, Tour Planning, Tour Operation, Holiday Consulting and foreign exchange management for tourists. Being a tourist destination(Shillong) itself, Students in UTM gets ample of experience in this industry and gets to know and in and outs too. After completion of the program you can work as a destination manager, travel consultant, front office management, HR, business development, PR and event management, job profiles handling passports and visas, etc.

If you're an active person & want a career in the sport, leisure & tourism. The hospitality, leisure & tourism industry has a great deal to offer graduates both in India & abroad, even it's still growing. There are many routes & you don't always need qualifications to start. You might start with on-the-job training. You don't necessarily need a degree, but gaining a relevant qualification in hospitality, leisure and tourism will be added advantages & preference given by recruiters & might enable you to start off on a higher rung of the career ladder. Qualifications range from degrees & national diplomas to undergraduate and masters degrees. Alternatively, a apprenticeship offers on-the-job training towards a vocational qualification.

Tourism refers to the business or industry that is engaged in providing services and facilities to tourists - that is, people on tour - for their travel related needs.
