Hi Avita,
Travel and tourism industry is one of the largest industries in India and a very significant employment generators.
It's great that you want to start a travel business, Although not a mandate however it is always better as through a qualification you know the basics of this industry:
In order to run a travel/tourism/hotel company, its best that you know the basics, like:
- day-to-day operations
- the inter-relationship between the Travel, Tourism & Hospitality industry,
- Advertising and marketing
- Business communication (How to write & present a business report, a business plan, a marketing plan etc)
- Personal grooming (How to present yourself & dress appropriately)
- How to use IT To improve efficiency & effectiveness in Business
from the basics, you can move on to Diploma > Adv Dip. > PGDip / Bachelors Degree in Travel/Tourism/Hospitality Management
Please refer to the link for institutes:

If you're an active person & want a career in the sport, leisure & tourism. The hospitality, leisure & tourism industry has a great deal to offer graduates both in India & abroad, even it's still growing. There are many routes & you don't always need qualifications to start. You might start with on-the-job training. You don't necessarily need a degree, but gaining a relevant qualification in hospitality, leisure and tourism will be added advantages & preference given by recruiters & might enable you to start off on a higher rung of the career ladder. Qualifications range from degrees & national diplomas to undergraduate and masters degrees. Alternatively, a apprenticeship offers on-the-job training towards a vocational qualification.

Hi garvit,
The hospitality, leisure and tourism industry has a great deal to offer graduates. The industry covers areas ranging from accommodation and food services to health and fitness, entertainment, and bars, clubs and pubs. Whatever area you choose, there are plenty of jobs to choose from and management opportunities galore. You might start with on-the-job training, undertaking a graduate scheme or taking a postgraduate qualification to boost your career opportunities.
Each organisation has its own recruitment process ranging from a single interview to a complex series of interviews .
You don't necessarily need a degree, but gaining a relevant qualification in hospitality, leisure and tourism will prove your commitment to recruiters and might enable you to start off on a higher rung of the career ladder.
Qualifications range from national diplomas to undergraduate and masters degrees.
Employers in hospitality, leisure and tourism will also be looking for an array of 'soft' skills, including:
