Galgotias University's B.Des. in Advertising, Graphics & Web Design is a multidisciplinary four-year programme that combines graphic design, advertising, branding and web/digital design. The curriculum includes areas such as typography, visual communication, advertising campaigns, branding, UI/UX, motion graphics, digital illustration, packaging, web design and social-media content. Students are also introduced to tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Figma and Canva. 

The programme has a practical and studio-oriented approach, with subjects involving design applications, sketching, computer applications and advertising principles. The university's School of Design also highlights hands-on learning, real-world projects, workshops and industry exposure, with more than 20 events and workshops listed annually and collaborations with design firms. 

After graduation, students can explore roles such as Graphic Designer, Brand Identity Designer, Advertising Art Director, Digital Illustrator, UI/UX Designer, Web Designer, Motion Graphics Designer, Social-Media Content Creator, Packaging Designer and Design Strategist. Freelancing and entrepreneurship are also possible career directions in this field. 

The current listed tuition fee is ₹1.10 lakh per year, with an additional ₹20,000 annual examination fee, along with other listed charges. Eligibility is Class 12 with a minimum of 50%, while UCEED, CUET or SAT scores receive preference in the merit list. 

Overall, the course is particularly suited to students who enjoy creativity, visual design, advertising, branding, social-media content, UI/UX and digital media. Since design careers are strongly portfolio-driven, students can benefit significantly by building a strong portfolio through personal projects, internships, competitions and freelance work during the degree.

From what I have seen while working on animation projects, portfolio support can make a pretty big difference when you are looking for placements. I noticed this when I was helping a student from Raipur with his animation portfolio around 2026. His technical skills were decent, but his portfolio was all over the place and did not really show what he could do.

That's something I'd look at when considering a place like AAFT University in Raipur. The course environment can give students opportunities to work on projects and build a portfolio, but I wouldn't expect the college alone to create a job-ready portfolio for you.

I remember making the same mistake with a portfolio project I was working on. I had too many pieces in it because I thought showing more work would look impressive. It actually made the good work harder to notice. After cutting it down and improving a few projects, it looked much more professional.

For animation placements, I'd personally pay attention to whether students are getting practical project experience, feedback on their work, and guidance on presenting their showreel and portfolio. Those things matter because recruiters usually want to see what you can actually create, not just the qualification on your resume.

So yes, portfolio-building support can be useful, but I'd still expect the student to put in a lot of the work themselves.
