You should consult with the admissions department of your institute to understand which colleges are tied in with them for lateral admissions. Only a select few colleges would have tie ups with your institute so it is best if you check with the admissions department of your institute.

Dear Antara Paul,
B.Tech lateral entry means that studying B.Tech directly from the 2nd year. B.Tech after 12th is a good and a wise option but direct 2nd-year admission is very good because of experience and knowledge, you will be more experienced than a regular 2nd-year student. While, it doesn't ensure a good package but your chances will definitely increase.

Hi,
You can take admission anywhere. Take your seat in the best college which gives you the best academic facilities of good faculty, infrastructure, live projects, seminars, exposure, platform, scholarships, placements, etc. Delhi College of engineering and IP colleges have affordable fee structure. LPU provides good slabs of scholarships so that the education again is affordable there besides the good placements it offers. SRM campus too offers affordable fee structure.

Educator at University,

Both are decent but certainly not the best, and also the location is in no way a measure of good education !
You must try your luck in LPU, if you can get admission. It offers lateral entry programs to 3 year Diploma holders after 10th. The eligibility is 60% in aggregate in your Diploma. Now why LPU? Because of:
CSE has about 8 specializations within its ambit, you have a great choice. Industry trainings like SAP, MOOCs and many more free of cost. Huge diversity of students and faculty. Large number of hackathons, competitions and events keep on happening throughout the year, which gives the hands on exposure to students. Centre f... View more

Shourya, a student with diploma in Mech.engineering.can go for B.Tech Aeronautical/ Aerospace as first year syllabus for all the branches is almost same.
For lateral entry either give LEET exam or opt for good private universities like LPU, MIT, IIIT, DBU, etc that will offer you admission on the basis of your marks in dipoma. They offer world class environment to students along with good placements. Some even offer good scholarships to students.
Check their websites for more details.
Good luck.

<p>LPU primarily provides scholarships to students seeking lateral entry into the university on the basis of their diploma (or other qualifying)/ previous examinations rather than 12th grade. This ensures that students who have completed their college studies and established their academic abilities have equal opportunity. In addition to diploma scores, LPU has scholarships awarded via the national entrance and scholarship test (LPUNEST), therefore providing students with merit-based financial assistance.
