If Diploma in Engineering is from an approved Polytechnic, then only you are eligible for lateral entry admission in engineering.
Admissions are being done on the basis of Common Entrance Testa (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh IP University as per government rules. Around INR. 2 Lakh students apply for the CET and 70000 students qualify for the admissions in GGSIPU. Out of this, a few sharp minded students having up to 4500 rank in CET get a chance for admission in GBPEC. Hence, there is no lateral entry scheme in GBPEC for B.Tech courses.

For B.Tech lateral entry admission, you need to appear for state LEET examination to get the top colleges. Some colleges also give admission on the basis of Diploma percentage.

No,there is no work experience required to get admission in B.Tech lateral entry program in DTU but in any engineering college. You are free to apply.

Dear Chandan, HBTI comes under top college in Uttar Pradesh. But, according to me, with this rank you may surely get IET. But, I am not sure about core branches like mechanical & electrical engineering.
Yes, you can do it, but in some colleges, there might be restrictions so I can suggest you a university where it would not be a problem, it would be LPU.

Generally, there are no restrictions at all but it depends on a particular college or it depends on you only that what you have done after completing the job. If you were working after that, it means you have a work experience so the college will not get affected by it. But you can't get lateral entry due to time gap. If you have dropped 2-3 years, you may get a lateral entry but in this case, you can't get admission via lateral entry. You can take admission to B.Tech in any branch provided you have all therequired documents.
