Of course, you are eligible to seek admission under lateral mode after completion of your Diploma. This is subject to other condition like age, etc. I feel you must apply immediately without wasting any time.
If you wish not to do a job for next 3 to 4 years, you may go for lateral entry. Lots of private engineering colleges are allowing lateral entry for Diploma pass students. However, the best option for a Diploma pass student who is engaged in a job is to do AMIE.
