Hello Arunima,
IIT Mumbai is an old hand in this branch and keeps itself updated on a regular basis. It's at the top of ranking for this branch. On the other hand, IIST is a new entrant but is supported by ISRO. This college too has good faculty. However, I would prefer IIT to IIST.
Private sector jobs after Bachelor of Design (B.Des).
There are enormous opportunities for the B.Des graduates to secure a job in private sector. Many private organizations such as Boutiques, Hotels, Fashion Media, marketing sector, Furniture Manufacturing Units, and Quality Control Offices, etc offer huge openings for the B.Des pass outs. In these private firms, one can join as cutting assistant/graphic designer/ weaving consultants/ illustrator/ fashion merchandisers/costume designers/textile designers/ fashion forecasters / entrepreneurs / fashion stylists / design manager / colorists / outside sales representative.

All these are top IITs. You can go in any of these, All these have best placement in various fields. You should opt according to your score if you have chances like these.
IIT, Kharagpur’s electrical engineering should be your first priority when compared with IIT, Kanpur’s mechanical engineering.
Computer science and electrical engineering are very high paying branches. Hence, they are always preferred by toppers.
On the other side, mechanical, known as the 'ever-green branch' is not as ever-green as it seems. The demand is not very high, neither low in the current scenario, but one thing for sure, this field is never destined to decline.

Hi Sahith,
NET exam is conducted by UGC two times in a year. The exam is conducted to apply for lecturership in your field. It consists of two levels from two levels I mean there are two cut off scores given, one is for the eligibility of lecturership and second for eligibility for JRF and once you clear JRF then you are eligible to apply for fellowship that is you can pursue PH.D in which field you gave your NET exam. You are eligible for this once you complete your post graduation. You can get detailed information from UGC NET site.
Good luck.

All are important in their respective field.
But, by seeing the growth I can say that the CS and IT industry are growing much faster.
Choose that field in which you have interest.
You should have goals to achieve, so basically choose the branch according to your interest only.
Scope of all branches are same, but slightly differ.
CS have very good scope and has various option. You will have and more opportunities in private sector only. But, not much than in government sector.
Whereas, civil has much scope in government area, rather than private area.
Electronic and mechanical have good scope in both private as well as Government sector.
