Hello,
There is bad news for aspirants of BE via distance education. SC has canceled degrees of many students awarded by such universities. It's best to join some college. If it's not feasible then I would suggest you to clear AMIE which is considered as equivalent to engineering graduation.

Hello Saraswathi,
Your query is quite good one. Theoretically yes, you can. Firstly equivalence of two courses needs to be established. Then if you are studying in private college presently, getting TC is most tough. But answer lies with administration of Osmania. You have to begin journey by approaching them in writing with your request.
Yes, you can join B.Tech programme after completing Polytechnic in the Diploma of engineering. If you take admission through lateral entry examination after Polytechnic then you will get admission directly into second year of engineering. The Lateral entry examination is state level examination.

Candidates for the B.E./B.Tech programme at Ashoka Institute of Technology and Management must provide three photocopies of their original high school and intermediate mark sheets, two copies of their Aadhaar cards, two copies of their college allotment letters (for counseling students), one copy of all fee receipts (including counseling deposits), and three copies of their Diploma or B.Sc. mark sheet for lateral entry students. A picture and a government ID are examples of additional documentation. When registering, these need to be uploaded online at ashokainstitute.com.

If you feel you have enough potential and scores to get into the government institutes then wait patiently for the counselling. If you have a doubt then you can get admission in a private college allocated first. Decide and secure a seat in a private college then participate in the counselling process for government colleges and if you get one leave the private college seat.
But be careful, choose a college that will refund your payments once you opt to switch to a government college.
Good luck.

Hello Vijay,
Almost all colleges in Chennai are accepting lateral entry candidates.
Lateral entry admission is for students who have completed Diploma in engineering or B.Sc. You as a B.Tech student is not eligible for lateral entry admission in BTech. However, you can seek transfer to another college in the second year. The process of seeking transfer is full of challenges. For transfer to take place, you must get admission in another college in the second year and your current college must be ready to release you. Sometimes releasing colleges ask for next three years fee to release a student because their seat may go waste.
