With just JEE, you can't get admission in IITs. You have to appear for JEE advanced and then based on your performance, you'll get admission in IIT Madras.
JEE main is for NITs.
To get admission in IITs, you must appear for JEE Advanced.
None of them answered your question correct. So, at first about the placement: No IIT's have got 100% placement but only those opt for campus placement which is around 60%-70% of the total eligible candidates. So, you can't be placed if you don't opt. So, I don't see a problem in placement in IIT here. So, don't believe those misinterpreted placement statistics in your newspaper. (Note: My words are coming from the official placement data published by IIT Bombay.)
Now, about IIT or IIST. You should go to IIT, if you wish to continue your study and do M.Tech or Ph.D, as when you apply for higher studies the IIT name will give you an edg... View more

Hello Yash,
NIT (National Institute of Technology) and IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) both are central government colleges. The IITs are the top ranking colleges in India for engineering education while NITs are after the IITs. You need to clear JEE main for NITs and JEE main and advanced for IITs. The reputation and placements of these colleges are higher and better than most of the colleges in India.
That is because IITs, specifically the seven original ones, continue to be at forefront of our efforts in engineering, technology and research. they continue to be ahead in terms of the faculty, infrastructure and the quality of students and hence continuing to have differential investment in these premier institutes makes perfect sense.
Although, we must make conscious efforts to improve NITs and other engineering colleges too.
This is the exam for undergraduates.
By clearing this exam, you will become professor in IITs, you have to teach students specific subject in which you have got your undergraduate degree/diploma.
Give preference to NIT for CSE. Because placements in Mechanical are not satisfactory in any college. However if you are getting ECE or IT in IITs than think about the IITs.

Hello Ritesh,
Firstly, try to find where have you left portions in your preparation or which part is weak.
Make a list of all weak chapters and then study smartly.
Never think while studying that I already studied this chapter in previous year.
Never leave maths as many students think that it is too hard to do.
Don't waste time in joining coaching just purchase the package by coaching institute and then go for it.

Hello Prahalad,
IIT- Indian Institute of Technology
NIT- National Institute of Technology
IITs are the no. 1 institutions in India.
You can get into these colleges by clearing JEE Mains and Advanced. If you clear JEE Mains with a good rank, then you can get good NITs. If you clear JEE Advanced with a good score then you can get a good IIT. And most importantly, IIT is very superior to NIT. IIT is recognized worldwide but NITs are only national level institutes.
If you study in an IIT, you can get a job with a huge salary package but JEE (joint entrance examination) is not easy to crack and it is a highly competitive exa... View more
