It's difficult if you are a general category student. Normally, the cut-off is more than 75 percentile for NIT, Trichy. You will get a call for GD and PI, but it's difficult to get admission with this percentile.

First of all, I Congratulate you for getting a good rank in JEE Mains. As you live in Goa, a good option for you is by grabbing the benifit of Home State Quota in NIT Goa. You can get a very good branch like ECE or EEE in NIT Goa if you have opted for it. So there is a possibility of getting CSE Branch in lower NITs only. You can easily get these branches in CSAB Special Rounds if you have missed these branches in JoSAA Councelling.
Whereas getting CSE Branch might be slightly difficult but still you have a chance of getting CSE in moderate NITs only in CSAB Special Rounds provided there are vacant seats still remaining in CSE Branche... View more

Materials science is a fascinating field which has no end because of the variety of problems that keep on coming, but there are various challenges that you might face. Materials science requires a good understanding of the concepts of all fields of science. This causes it to face a tough challenge from people of core physics, chemistry or engineering background. It is difficult to master everything as you can understand. For the same reason, many companies, which require material engineers equally, may sometimes prefer a person from a core engineering background. Very few people ever go into the core in metallurgy. Current Student- IIT, Varanasi,

We can't compare the two colleges which are very different from each other in many aspects. The admission process, fee, and academics. But giving it a try, IIT BHU is a very old institution and it has been offering the course since 1919, the department is well-established and reputed. Mechanical is a core branch, which also favors it. BITS has its own reputation, there is not much difference. You can go for anyone, both are equivalent in my view. If you are interested in the IIT tag, join IIT BHU. Otherwise, it is your preference, the job opportunities don't differ much.

Chemical Engineering is not all about chemistry, it is something like an amalgam of chemistry and applied physics and other things. So, first, research and choose your branch wisely. Now coming to the question, IIT-Kanpur is one of the best colleges in our country and it is not advisable to lose any seat in the prestigious institute. Some of the recruiters are:
Reliance Industries Ltd.
Essar Oil Limited.
