Colloquially speaking aerospace is the name of the industry which is in the field of manufacturing of aetonautical components. Aeronautical Engineering is the name of the subject. However in India, both these words are interchangeably used meaning one and the same thing. Admissions to Aeronautical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering branch is exactly similar to admission for any other branch of Engineering. You need to clear entrance exam prescribed by your state for admission to colleges in your state. For admission in deemed to be universities or CFTI's there are different exams that you need to clear. Unfortunately, there is nothing like NEET for aspirants to engineering. Best wishes.

Your query is quite okay. Actually, aerospace is the name of the industry that deals with aero products and the field of study is called as aeronautical engineering. For working in space, one needs to be an astronaut. Presently only pilots are selected to be astronauts. However if you want to work on spacecraft then you should join ISRO.

It's actually very simple. Fundamentally, aerospace engineer or any other branch, process is same. One needs to pass 12th with good marks and then clear the CET of your state for admission with good marks to get the college of your choice.

It's indeed quite good to hear that you are interested in aerospace engineering in IIT Mumbai. You need to take PCM subjects in your 12th exam and score minimum of 75% marks to be eligible. Then you need to clear JEE Mains and then JEE Advanced to get admission in this premier institute for studies in this branch.

Fundamentally, GATE syllabus is equivalent to BE. In addition, one is expected to choose GATE paper of the branch in which BE is done. So the requirement for further study material is rather limited.
