Candidates seeking BA admission at IUST must necessarily meet the course-specific eligibility criteria specified by the university. The eligibility criteria depend on the choice of specialisation. The course-wise eligibility requirements for BA admission at the university are as follows:
- Candidates seeking admission to a BA in Journalism & Mass Communication must have scored at least 50% in Class 12 from a recognised board
- For all other specialisations, candidates must have scored an aggregate of 45% or more in Class 12 from a recognised board
- A relaxation of 5% on the minimum required aggregate is provided to candidates from reserved cat

The qualifying exam should have been passed from a recognised board. Students must hold the pass certificates as well. The Class 12 mark sheet or pass certificate (original or copies) have to be submitted to the university for verification purposes.
