Candidates need to complete Class 12 to apply for BDes course at NIF Global, Dehradun. Aspirants must hold the documents proving their eligibility for verification. Besides, the selection criteria for the course are merit-based. However, students who have not completed Class 12 are not eligible for BDes course admission.

The eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Desprogrammethrough SEED 2025 is given below:

  • Age limit - There is no age limit for admission to the B.Des program
  • Qualifying exam - The candidate must have passed Standard XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any recognised board or 10+3 Diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education.
  • Minimum marks - The candidate needs to have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes) in the qualifying exam.

Candidates are not required to submit an elementary drawing exam certificate for the Admission Procedure at SID. The candidate merely needs to meet the academic, qualifting exam, and age criteria. Eligible candidate next needs to appear in the SEED 2025. Those qualifying in the exam will have to next appear in a PRPI round. The final results would be prepared by giving weightage to the SEED 2025 exam and the PRPI.

The B.Des programme has an intake capacity of 180 seats (Indian nationals only). In addition, there are 27 seats reserved for international students. The candidate may note that the seat intake is however subject to approval from SIU. There is also reservation of seats for SC, ST, and Differently Abled candidates.

The B.Des programme is available in four specialisations - Communication Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, and Fashion Communication.

Yes, candidates seeking admission to the B.Desprogrammeneed to compulsory appear in the SEED 2025 exam.

The scores of the SEED 2025 exam will be used to shortlist candidates for a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round.

Note that the final merit list will be prepared by considering the cumulative performance of the candidate in the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction (PRPI).

So, any candidate who appears in the SEED but doesn’t appear in the PRPI will not be considered for admission. 

The B.Des is a 4-year course carrying 160 credits.
