To seek admission to BDes programme, a candidate needs to appear for an online test based on creative aptitude. Selected candidates are further called for a Design Studio Test followed by a Language and Visual Skill Test.

The total tuition fees of BDes is INR 8.6 Lacs as per an unofficial source. Candidates are required to pay the course fee after completion of all the selection rounds to confirm their seats. In case, a candidate is unable to pay the fee within the specified time, his or her admission will stand cancelled. Aspirants will also need to pay a registration fee to apply for admission.

Candidates who have passed pre-university/ higher secondary/ Class 12 with Arts, Commerce or Science stream with at least 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for reserved category and SC/ ST, Category -1 and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) category students from Karnataka) can apply for BDes course. Candidates are required to fulfil the eligibility requirements and submit their proof of eligibility during the document verification round. Any candidate found ineligible during the verification process, will not be given admission.

The selection to BDes courses is based on Pearl Academy Entrance Exam that, includes GPT- General Proficiency Test and DAT- Design Aptitude Test. The entrance exam is followed by a personal interview round and portfolio presentation.

NIFT Kannur is a government institute. It has a great infrastructure and is equipped with great facilities, well-equipped design studios, a well-stocked library, computer labs etc. It has been ranked 16 for Fashion Design by Outlook in 2019 and holds a good placement record as well. NIFT Kannur offers a BDes programme with a duration of four years in four specialisations. Candidates are required to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam and are accepted on the basis of merit. The last round closing rank for B.Des in Fashion Design was 1279 for the General All India category students.
