You should consult with the admission authorities of your school if lateral entries are permitted from one department to another. If you have a good academic record, it should help you in getting a lateral transfer. You should block a seat in the other department before giving up your seat in your B.Tech degree. Good Luck!!

If you want to pursue B.Tech, there is no country which comes close to the standard/quality of education imparted other than India. Affordable colleges, healthy competition, and precious life experiences which enrich any B.Tech education can be found in India. Although an education in the US and other countries may seem tempting, I would say save it for your Masters.
