B.Tech

The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech/BE/B.Sc Engineering) is a degree awarded by universities to students who have completed four years (eight semesters) worth of coursework related to a specific branch of engineering. Most colleges operate on semester basis i.e each year corresponds to two semesters. Eligibility for entry is 10+2 years of school education. Generally the first year (first two semesters) is common to all branches, and has the same subjects of study. Courses divert after first year. The medium of instruction and examination is English and IES is affiliated to RGPV university. IES offers engineering in various branches like: computer science, civil, fire technology, electronics and telecommunication, electrical engineering, chemical engineering. Including all the streams in BTech the number of seats available are around 1700-1800.

Admission to BTech engineering programme is granted on the base of marks in the qualifying examination followed by Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions( TNEA).The minimal eligibility for admission to BE/BTech is a pass in 10 plus 2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects. Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology( HICET), Chennai was established in 2000. It's an independent council. The council offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different specializations. The undergraduate course isB.E for the duration of 4-years.
