Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College is one of the few that gives the students wide range of options with highly skilled instruction in a variety of dentistry-related fields. The college prepares around 100 students annually for BDS and 49 students for MDS programmes across nine specialties. The 9 departments of the college are Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Department of Periodontology, Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodpedics, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, and Department of Public Health Dentistry.

Both B.Sc and BDS programs at Baba Farid University seem to have decent placement prospects, albeit in different domains.
