BSc Biotechnology is one of the most competitive courses at Pt. JLN Government College because of the limited seat count. Since there are only 80 spots available, the merit list usually closes at a very high percentage. Students often need to have scored above 85% or 90% in their 12th board exams to feel secure. Even if you are set on Biotechnology, still you must keep a "Plan B" ready, such as applying for BSc Life Sciences as a second preference, where the seat capacity is 160.

However, top areas include Pharmaceuticals (drug discovery, QA/QC), Clinical Research ( CRA, data management), Bioinformatics, Agricultural Biotech and Environmental Biotech. Students aiming for specialised roles go for a master's degree like M.Sc, M.Tech or MBA in biotechnology or a similar field or the one that adds value to their resume.
