Yes, many a time we get stuck due to such criterias. Can you think of appearing for improvement exam if your board permits? This will ameliorate your condition. Else you have to accept, forget and move on in life with another course.

For knowing which side is better, you must tell your side first. I mean you have not said anything about your subjects in 12th. What interests you? What is your passion? It's always best if passion and subject of graduation match.
