Dear Kartikeyaa, Mechanical engineering yields some similarities, the biggest difference between the two careers is what professionals in the field engineer. A civil engineer helps design and create buildings, infrastructure, and other large-scale structural projects. The professional life is much, much different between the two. But if you must know, mechanical engineering is more difficult. The core classes use higher-level maths far more than in civil engineering. Hello Adarsh, these days there are more than hundred colleges in almost all the states who offer facility of lateral admission directly into second year of four year degree course. Majority of these colleges do have civil engineering as a possible choice. However the exact details and the number of seats available will only be available on the website of the directorate of technical education of your state. Best wishes to you.

If you get overwhelmed by the structures and construction, civil engineering is the one for you. If you are intrigued by machine designs, their mechanics, and dynamics, go for mechanical engineering. Electronics and Communication branch has got wider options and easier life compared to Mechanical Engineers.
