International students at Columbia College are able to work both on and off campus as long as they have a current study permit and Social Security number. During semester breaks, students are permitted to work full-time or part-time, for up to 20 hours per week, both on and off campus. Overseas candidates enrolled full-time are eligible to work under campus employment facilities.

The University of British Columbia GPA requirements will depend on the programme type. There is no particular number set by the university, but students must have at least a GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 to be considered for admission. For admission in master's programme at UBC, students must achieve a First Class/Division 1 (65%) or Very Good (8 on a 10-point scale) in bachelor's degree.
