No, candidates need to qualify for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam to get admission to the M.Tech programme offered by NIT Goa. Students applying without a valid GATE score is not eligible for the National Institute of Technology Goa M.Tech admission. GATE is an online national-level examination conducted for Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (MTech) and direct PhD admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs and other institutes/universities across India.

For NIT Goa M.Tech admission, candidates must have passed graduated from a recognised university with a Bachelor's in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ MSc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE, etc.) with a minimum of 60% aggregate (or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale) and 55% aggregate for SC/ST/PWD. For the National Institute of Technology Goa BTech admission, candidates are required to pass Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology as an optional subject with a minimum aggregate of 75%. Apart from the minimum eligibility criteria, NIT Goa also considers the JEE Main score to admit students to its BTech course.

NIT Goa offers a four-year full-time BTech course at the undergraduate level. NIT Goa BTech admission is completely entrance-based and depends on candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam, followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. The JoSAA counselling begins in September. There will be 6 rounds of seat allotment.
