For the last year, the closing rank for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering was 40528 which is very close to this range. This was for General category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission. However, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission at IIIT Kalyani - Indian Institute of Information Technology.

Neither. To be very honest neither in its present infrastructure or perspective or prospectus is good enough for you to get the real taste of engineering. Faculty members are good at both the places. Students are the best at both the places. Even MAKAUT got their first two Google Summer of Code better this year and I am glad that they have been my juniors. You will find some wonderful people at both the places, and some really creepy ones at both. Placement is more or less average at both. And both the colleges have alumni who have done their M.Tech in IIT or abroad or PGDM in IIM, IMT, ISB etc.
