The UPSC Engineering Services Examination Notification states that - a candidate must have earned an engineering degree from a university established by an act of the Central or State Legislature in India, from another educational institution founded by an act of Parliament, or from a university declared to be deemed a university under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, to be eligible to take the exam.
The candidate must, however, choose any one of the four subjects - civil, mechanical, electrical, or electronics - for which they wish to take the exam.

Yes, CSE students are eligible for the IES exam. However, the candidate must select any one of the four subjects for which the student wants to write exam in like civil, mechnical, electrical, electronics. Also, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university or institution to be eligible.

The following are the essential eligibility requirements for pursuing a Computer Science Engineering course at the undergraduate and graduate levels:
- BTech in CSE applicants must have taken the Class 12 exam from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
- Candidates must also have a minimum aggregate mark of 60% in the above subjects combined.
- MTech in CSE eligibility requirements: Applicants must have completed a BTech degree in the same specialisation with a passing percentage.
