Your son has got very good score. Your son stands a high chance in getting IIIT-Bangalore. Though, you should be aware that IIIT-Bangalore offer integrated M.Tech and not purely B.Tech which is B.Tech + M.Tech. You should also try for IIIT-Hyderabad which is top notch. Seeing the percentile, I hope your son should apply for the same also.

B.Tech ECE Mains subject focuses on Digital And Analog Electronic, Digital and Analog Communication Techniques, VLSI, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing, C+, Data Structure, IOT ( in some colleges), Microwave Engineering, Radar and Satellite Communications and some elective which depends upon college. If you want to pursue ECE then try your hands on robotics and embedded system learn their basics, try to build some hardware projects. You will see the power of IC chip in this digital world.
