It can not be done. You will not be offered admission into IIT through lateral scheme. The reason being that Indian Institute of Technology does not offer lateral entry to Engineering aspirants. It is not possible in the IITs.
It is not just the lateral entry, you will not get any sort of admission for Engineering in the IIT. To be eligible for B.Tech from the IITs you need to appear for entrance exam called the IIT-JEE which is gonna be replaced by the ISEET next year.
In order to appear for these entrance exams you must have passed 12th with PCM as the subjects. Since diploma course is taken after the 10th standard, it is also not poss

Hello Shivkarthi,
You have not mentioned your state and also not mentioned if you are seeking lateral admission or fresh admission in an engineering college. The better you score in Diploma, better the college you get.

Physical cosmology is a branch of physics and astrophysics that deals with the study of the physical origins and evolution of the universe. It also includes the study of the nature of the universe on a large scale.

Hi Sneha,
It is very tough to choose between interest and scope. EXTC is having better placements and better scope as compared to mechanical engineering but if you are inclined towards mechanical engineering, go fo it only because if you have interest in something you can achieve great things in that field.
All the best!
