Kindly mention the entrance exam name for which you have missed appearing for the counseling. Though, I am not too sure to say unless I have the exam name, but I guess a lot of college offer direct admission process in colleges via reserved seats (5% of total number of seats). These seats are reserved for those people who actually didn't qualify the eligibility criteria for getting a seat in college but are willing to spend almost two to four times the actual fee of the college. I'll prefer you to opt for the Electronics and Electrical engineering as this is the best branch that will have the awesome future and will be in the great demand as more and more electronics companies are setting up their manufacturing plants in India.

Hello Pradyumna,
It is very nice to see that you have already set a target to yourself of getting employment in NASA or ISRO. ISRO employs people or students from wide range of fields every year. You just keep on observing or keep a watch on the website of ISRO to know about announcement of the vacancies. For NASA, I suppose you will have to go to US for doing your MS and then your chances will improve for getting a job in NASA.

See, in India, as of now, the increasing scope is of electronics only as there are very less manufacturing plants in India and only some companies are coming to India that will hire mechanical engineers, but in the electronics field, this is totally opposite and more and more companies are setting up there manufacturing plants in India.

See, in the mechanical branch, you can't get placements other than from your college as it is very hard to find that but as a electronics engineer you can easily grab a good job and also the promotion in this filed is also quite good.
