Almost all of the colleges in India give some sort of relaxation in marks during the Mechanical Engineering admission process to students who belong to any of the reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC. The general relaxation is of 5% marks across a majority of the colleges. For example, if a general category student needs to get 60% marks in Class 12 to be eligible for admission to B Tech Mechanical Engineering, reserved category students need 55% marks.

Rest, you must check the respective websites of the colleges you're targeting for precise information about their admission guidelines.
