Different countries have different requirements. You may not have to take any exams except the IELTS. What is most important is how you first co-ordinate with the university /department heads or research supervisors. Even before applying you have to contact various universities offering research work in English literature, you have to share your research interest and proposal, prior publications etc. And be accepted by them. Find out about funding and scholarship options and proceed accordingly.

Hi Ramneet,
Requirements vary from country to country. If you are looking to study in US you must take SAT and SAT subject tests (optional). SAT is not mandatory for other countries but recommended. In addition to SAT you must take English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL or IELTS. If you can specify the programme and country perhaps I can guide you better.

I hope that you have good chances for interaction. Begin with increasing your exposure to English. Writing frequently and cultivate thinking in English, first. Read loudly to make yourself familiar with aspects of pronunciation. Listen to good English, being spoken. It is all a matter of practice and time.
