The PSU recruitment through GATE scores requires the following criteria -

  • Age-Limit - The minimum age limit is between 21 to 28 years.

  • Minimum Qualifying Marks - The minimum qualifying percentage for PSU recruitment can be around 50 to 60%.

  • Medical Fitness - Candidates must meet the medical requirements set by the authorities during the recruitment. 

  • Nationality - The candidate’s nationality must be Indian.

The PSU recruitment through GATE is based on the candidate’s performance in the GATE examination. Some of the reputed PSUs that offer recruitment through GATE scores are - 

  • Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)

  • Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL)

  • National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC)

  • Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL)

  • Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)

Some other well-known PSUs include ONGC, NHPC, Power-Grid, NALCO, IOCL, etc.

The GATE rank for admission to IIT Bombay may vary yearly. Candidates are advised to check the official website for notifications. Once the GATE 2025 result is released, we will also update the cutoff ranks on our page.

The previous year’s cutoff and rank trends show that the ideal GATE rank for IIT admission is around 200 or lower. However, the competitive range for GATE scores for IIT admissions falls between 400 and 800. Candidates must check the official website of the IITs to check the cutoff and ranks (stream-wise).

The GATE exam pattern consists of three types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Choice Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT). The test papers will be in English. Each GATE 2026 paper is for a total of 100 marks, General Aptitude (GA) is common for all papers (15 marks), and the rest of the paper covers the respective test paper syllabus (85 marks). Moreover, the GATE Score is utilized for public sector undertaking recruitments and MTech admission.

The official GATE 2026 notification is not released yet. For now the GATE 2026 exam pattern follows the 2025 exam scheme. The application form and information brochure will be released soon. 

Two new subjects – Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM) were introduced in the syllabus. The total number of subjects in GATE 2025 exam was increased to 30. In another newly introduced change, students applying for GATE EXAM 2025 had to opt for two different papers from the prescribed set of combinations.

For the first paper, options include AE, AG, AR, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, CY, DA, EC, EE, ES, EY, GE, GG, IN, and more. For the second paper, combinations include CE, ME, XE, CG, BT, IN, BM, XL, AE, AG, AR, ES, GE, NM, XE, PE, DA, EC, and more.In the GATE Second Paper Concept, the primary paper is related to the applicant's undergraduate engineering disciplines, while the secondary paper allows applicants to apply their knowledge in a related field. For instance, if an aspirant has graduated in electrical engineering, this becomes their primary paper. You can take two GATE Papers in a year but it is important to refer to the official GATE 2
