The GATE exam has 30 test papers, and candidates can apply for at least two papers from the two-paper combination list. It will be conducted online, and candidates will be shown questions on the computer screen. For calculations, candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator that will be available on the computer screen.

Candidates must be well aware with the virtual calculator and start practising as soon as possible to improve accuracy with solving questions.

A person with a benchmark disability (not less than 40% disability) will be allowed to opt for a scribe facility and will be given one-hour extra time to complete the exam. PwD/dyslexic candidates with benchmark disability (that limits the speed of writing) and do not want to apply for a scribe facility can avail of a request for an extra time of one hour if he/she meets the criteria of the scribe.

The scribe facility is offered only to PwD candidates with a benchmark disability (not less than 40% disability) and physical writing limitations, including speed. The scribe will be provided based on the certificate produced stating that the person concerned has a physical limitation to write, as mentioned in the GATE 2026 information brochure. If a candidate has a benchmark disability (not less than 40% disability) in blindness, locomotor disability, or cerebral palsy, then the scribe facility will only be allowed on advanced request.

The GATE enrollment ID is a unique identification number assigned to each candidate who registers for the GATE exam. The GATE Enrollment ID is generated after registering at the GOAPs portal. It is provided to candidates after completing the registration for the exam through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The enrollment ID is essential for accessing the candidate's GATE application, downloading the admit card, checking the exam results, and other related activities. It is important to keep the GATE enrollment ID safe and secure for future reference and communication with the GATE authorities.
