For the second paper, combinations include CE, ME, XE, CG, BT, IN, BM, XL, AE, AG, AR, ES, GE, NM, XE, PE, DA, EC, and more.In the GATE Second Paper Concept, the primary paper is related to the applicant's undergraduate engineering disciplines, while the secondary paper allows applicants to apply their knowledge in a related field. Category certificate is required to avail the concession in application fee. OBC candidates who want to appear in the GATE examination need to submit their category certificate at the time of registration. When it comes to filling in the application form, there is a certain relaxation in fees for category students. To avail the concession, candidates need to showcase their OBC certification.

Various foreign universities accept GATE scores. Universities might also have additional eligibility criteria that might be required to be fulfilled as well in order to get admission. Apart from securing admission to Master in Engineering (M.E.) and Master in Technology (M. Tech) programs in prestigious colleges across the country, the GATE score is utilized by most foreign universities to offer PG admission. Some of the foreign universities that accept the GATE scores are the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, Technical University of Germany and RWTH Aachen, Germany.

The GATE 2026 exam will be held on February 7,8, 14, and 15 in two shifts. The GATE 2026 official website is launched - gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The information brochure will be announced soon. The GATE MTech entrance exam 2026 will be held on different dates in two shifts- forenoon and afternoon.

The GATE 2025 application fee during the extended application window is INR 1,400 for female, SC, ST and PwD category candidates. For all others, the fee is INR 2,300. Applicants can register for up to two test papers.Candidates who wish to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering can do by applying at the official website.

NIT Meghalaya is a public technical university established in Shillong, Meghalaya, India in 2010. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya accepts GATE scores for admission to its M. Tech courses. The GATE cutoff for NIT Meghalaya varies depending on the year and the specialization. The closing scores in the last round of the GATE cutoff 2024 ranged from 398 to 352 in the General AI category. The last round closing rank for M. Tech ranged from 356 to 424. The minimum GATE cutoff 2023 for M. Tech in CSE was 356. A score range of 600 to 700 is considered to be a good score.

The Indian Institute of Science and seven other IITs jointly administer the GATE, a national-level entrance exam, to candidates seeking admission to doctorate and postgraduate programs specifically for MTech courses. The GATE admission procedure consists of the following stages -
