The GATE paper with codes - AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL have questions from the following-

  • 15% of the total marks will be distributed to the General Aptitude Section.
  • and 85% of the total marks will carry subject-specific questions.

For an incorrect answer in the MCQ section, there will be negative marking. For a one-mark question, 1/3 mark will be deducted and for a two-mark question, 2/3 mark will be deducted for the wrong answer. On the other hand, there is no negative marking for the numercial-based and multiple select questions. Also, there is no partial marking for the Multiple-Select questions.

The GATE Question Paper will be in English language with a test duration of three hours. The paper is divided into two sections - General Aptitude (GA) and Candidate's Selected Subjects, comprising of questions in the following format -

  • Candidate's Selected Subjects (S)
  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
  • or Numerical Answer Type Questions (NAT)

GATE Candidate Login is also called the GOAPS portal or GATE  login. It was activated on August 28, 2024, for GATE application form registrations. The GATE log-in can be used for many purposes, such as filling out the application form, checking the GATE application form status, downloading the GATE admit card, checking results, and more. The GATE candidate login is created especially for the applicants enrolling for the GATE exam, which will be conducted on Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025.

Incase, if you have lost your password, then you can retreive it by following the steps below -

  • Visit the official website
  • Go to the candidate login and click "Forgot Password" on the homepage
  • Verify with the OTP and reset a new password. 
  • Login using the new credentials created and keep it safe for future references.

The GATE exam is conducted every year to offer admissions to M.Tech and PhD programs. Interested candidates must register for the exam, providing necessary information, such as personal and their educational qualifications. The mode of the GATE registrations is online and must be done at the GOAPS portal. The GATE 2025 application form was released on August 28, 2024 and the last date to submit the application form without late fees was September 26, 2024. However, candidates can still submit the GATE application form till October 11, 2024 (extended date) by paying a late fee of INR 500.

GOAPS stands for GATE Online Application Processing System. It is an online interface for accessing various GATE exam activities. With the official portal (GOAPS), candidates can perform various activities related to GATE, such as -

  • Filling out the GATE application form.

  • Checking the GATE application form status

The GOAPS portal was activated on August 28, 2024, for the GATE 2025 application form.
