The GATE exam is conducted over multiple days in two shifts. This year, IIT Guwahati is the organising institute and has scheduled the GATE exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. Each day usually features multiple sessions- Morning (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm) across different parts of the state, ensuring smooth conduct of the exam in all disciplines.

IIT Kanpur also accepts GATE exam scores for the admission to M.Tech courses. Candidates with 700 score can easily get admission to any course except Discontinued (Jul 2023)-M.Tech. in Microelectronics and VLSI at IIT Kanpur. The IIT Kanpur cutoff 2024 stood between 622 and 840 for the General AI category candidates. The toughest and the easiest course to get into IIT Kanpur were Discontinued (Jul 2023) - M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI and Discontinued (Jul 2023)-M.Tech. in Power Engineering for the General AI category candidates. If you belong to the General AI quota, the GATE cutoff 2026 for IIT Dhanbad ranged from 456 to 762 for MTech admission across multiple specialisations. The cutoff scores vary by rounds, specialisations and categories. Based on the first round cutoff of 2026, students must target a cutoff score of 800 and above to be eligible for admission.

IIT Bombay cutoff 2024 got released across multiple M.Tech specialisations. Based on the Round 1 seat allotment, to get into IIT Bombay, students must score between 325 and, 750 for the General AII India category. In addition to that, For getting into M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, you must have a rank upto 750. Also, M.Tech. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and M.S. by Research in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence were some other most competitive M.Tech specialisations at IIT Bombay. Yes, IIT Bombay does accept the GATE score for admission to the MTech course and its various branches. Students who appeared in the examination have to also appear for the COAP counselling process to be able to gain a seat for the MTech course.

The GATE scorecard will be released after the declaration of the results. The scorecard is valif for three years and can be used in the following -
- Candidates can use the GATE scorecard to apply for admission to various IITs, NITs, IISc, and other prestiguous colleges.
- Candidates with good GATE scores will be offered scholarships during their postgraduate studies.
- A valid GATE scorecard can also be used to apply for PSU jobs, such as BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, etc.

Candidates can check the GATE 2026 eligibility criteria on the official website or in the GATE information brochure. The GATE 2026 official website is now active. Registrations will begin from August 25 onwards. The eligibility is different for each discipline or subject. Therefore, candidates must check the details carefully before applying. Any error in the eligibility can lead to the disqualification of the GATE application form.

No, only a printed hard copy of the GATE admit card will be accepted at the exam centre. Therefore, candidates must carry their hall ticket to the exam centre.
