One project that really stayed with me at GIBS was a group assignment where we had to work on a real business problem, not just a PPT topic. At first, it was honestly a bit messy — everyone had different ideas, different strengths, and different ways of working. But that's where it actually felt real.

Our faculty didn't spoon-feed us. They guided us, asked the right questions, and pushed us to think like professionals. We had to split roles, talk to people outside campus, collect actual data, and even redo our work after feedback. There were late evenings, small arguments, lots of chai breaks, and finally that feeling of “okay, we p

As a new PGDM student at GIBS, the faculty will not only teach you new ideas and concepts but also help you get ready for placement opportunities. Your professors use a wide variety of like case studies, Live Projects, and simulation-based learning within the curriculum. These methods aid you to gain hands-on experience using the skills you taught during class to solve real-world business issues. To further prepare you for placement opportunities, the faculty at GIBS also routinely invite industry experts, alumni of GIBS, and Corporate Leaders to speak to you during guest lectures, and serve as mentors or panel participants during an i

At GIBS, students interact with peers from around the world while participating in a wide range of cultural, management, and athletics activities throughout the course of the academic year. On campus, a variety of annual cultural festivals take place, such as Talent Shows, Festival Celebrations, Open Mic Nights, and Theme Days. These provide an opportunity for students to express themselves creatively.

On the management side, there are annual business conclaves, management fests, case study competitions, quizzes and workshops led by industry experts; alumni interactions; and start-up pitch sessions and industrial visits that enhance pra

Yes, The GIBS Business School faculty members have a good reputation for mentoring and advising their students when it comes to the people that they will work with during their internship, hands-on activities in class, and what to do after the conclusion of their degree from the GIBS Business School. In addition to teaching the principles of what the students are learning in class, the GIBS Faculty members also guide each of the students in the process of identifying their future internship opportunities, and selecting and executing projects, and also assist each student in preparation for creating their resumes, cover letters, and int

Industry Exposure at GIBS Business School is integrated into the curriculum as a continuous and structured part of instruction, rather than just one event. GIBS conducts the following types of activities to keep students connected with industry:

  • Guest Speaker Series (also called Corporate Talks) are held on average every month to every other month throughout the term to bring industry leaders (many of whom are HR professionals) into campus as speakers to give Motivating Talks and share their insights about the industries they represent.
  • Industry visits (multiple visits scheduled and organised each semester) allow students to gain first-h

Yeah, pretty much. GIBS keeps students connected with the outside world, not just inside classrooms. You often see industry people coming in for talks, sessions, or projects, and those connections slowly turn into internship opportunities. It feels natural, not forced.

There's also exposure beyond India — collaborations, global sessions, and learning tie-ups that help you see how things work on a bigger level. So overall, you're not stuck studying theory all the time. You get chances to interact, learn, and explore through industry and international exposure in a very practical, everyday way.

The GIBS Business School typically has an expected percentiles minimum for entrance exams (for admission to PGDM Programs), although these are, on average, the minimum percentiles expected of new applicants every year (country-wide) and therefore could change from year to year based on the applicant pool and “admissions trends”:

CAT/XAT/ATMA: a minimum percentile of around 60 is competitive for applicants to be shortlisted.

MAT: about a 60-64 percentile is considered a minimum acceptable score for an applicant in the general category.

CMAT: a minimum percentile of around 70 or higher.

There is no fixed or official cutoff published by G

Yes — faculty at GIBS Bangalore do that a lot. In most of my classes, instead of just explaining a concept from a book, teachers will pull up real examples from companies, recent business news, or actual situations their contacts have seen in the industry. It makes the session feel less like memorizing and more like learning how things really work.

For example, in marketing class, a topic like “brand positioning” might be explained using a case from a well-known brand campaign, and in finance class, a theory might be linked to how actual companies analyse their numbers. It makes concepts stick better because you can visualize them

Yes, definitely. At GIBS, students are actually given a lot of responsibility when it comes to events. From planning to execution, students handle most of the work themselves — coordinating, managing teams, handling speakers, promotions, everything. Faculty are always there in the background, guiding and stepping in only when needed.

What I like is that they trust students to take charge. You learn a lot by doing things on your own, making small mistakes, fixing them, and seeing the event come together. With faculty support, it never feels risky, but it still feels like real leadership experience, not just a classroom activity.
