While getting into GIBS Business School is not entirely straightforward, relative to other B-Schools, the process is more streamlined and flexible.

BBA:

  •  Yes, you are eligible for direct admission after the completion of class 12.
  •  No entrance examination is necessary.
  •  Admission decision is largely made on class 12 aggregate marks and sometimes by a general interview.

PGDM (MBA):

  •  Admission is not entirely direct - an entrance examination score will be necessary (e.g. CAT / MAT / CMAT / ATMA or some other type) at minimum.
  •  You will be evaluated also on the basis of two additional requirements: (i) Group Discus

At GIBS, an MBA/PGDM is expected to give you strong industry‑ready skills, good on‑campus placements (around 100% placement support), and a solid average package in the range of INR 8–13.5 LPA, depending on the year and batch.

You can also expect a practical‑oriented curriculum (around 50–70% practical exposure), live projects, internships, corporate‑linked workshops, and value‑added programs in areas like Business Analytics, AI, Digital Marketing, and Finishing‑school training to make you interview‑ready.

At GIBS Business School, Bangalore, the cutoff scores for MBA/PGDM are quite student-friendly, which is why it's considered one of the top management colleges in Bangalore. You don't need extremely high percentiles to get in — they look at your exam score, academics, and overall profile.

  • CAT: Around 60–70 percentile is generally considered.
  • MAT: Around 60–65 percentile works.
  • CMAT: Around 60 percentile is acceptable.
  • XAT: Around 60–70 percentile is usually expected.
  • ATMA: Around 60–70 percentile is typical.
  • GMAT: Scores above 450+ are helpful.

So basically, if your scores are in this range and your academics are decent, you have a g

Yes, you can apply to GIBS Business School Bangalore after taking the MAT exam. From my experience, the college accepts scores from exams like MAT, CAT, or XAT, so having a valid MAT score makes you eligible for admission.

  • MAT score is considered during the selection process

  • College looks at your overall profile, including academics and interview

  • You can get admission in PGDM or MBA programs based on your MAT score

Overall, from my experience, taking the MAT is a good way to apply to GIBS, and the college makes the process simple and supportive for students.

At the GIBS Business School, placement preparation starts early on, not just in the last year of school. The school places strong emphasis on continual training so that when students do get placed there is sufficient training at the time the actual placements take place.

  • Starting from the first year: Students receive training during the first trimester through programs such as the Finishing School (CPMP) program.
  • Continuous skill development: Throughout the entire course, students receive continuous skill development with respect to aptitude, communication, resume writing, and both group discussion (GD) and interview skills.
