Yes, you can apply to GIBS Business School Bangalore after taking the MAT exam. From my experience, the college accepts scores from exams like MAT, CAT, or XAT, so having a valid MAT score makes you eligible for admission.

  • MAT score is considered during the selection process

  • College looks at your overall profile, including academics and interview

  • You can get admission in PGDM or MBA programs based on your MAT score

Overall, from my experience, taking the MAT is a good way to apply to GIBS, and the college makes the process simple and supportive for students.

At the GIBS Business School, placement preparation starts early on, not just in the last year of school. The school places strong emphasis on continual training so that when students do get placed there is sufficient training at the time the actual placements take place.

  • Starting from the first year: Students receive training during the first trimester through programs such as the Finishing School (CPMP) program.
  • Continuous skill development: Throughout the entire course, students receive continuous skill development with respect to aptitude, communication, resume writing, and both group discussion (GD) and interview skills.

The assessment methods at GIBS Business School are different from the typical assessment methods of writing tests. Instead, the institute uses practical and continuous evaluation techniques for measuring students' actual abilities and readiness to work in the industry.

Assessment Methods Other Than Written Tests

  • Students completing 'live' projects and internships will be assessed on their actual work with a company and how they performed in that work.
  • Students will have to give presentations and participate in seminars to demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively, their level of confidence, and how well they understand the subj

For admission to the PGDM and MBA programs at GIBS Bangalore, there isn't a fixed cutoff every year, but generally, students are expected to have decent scores in their entrance exams.

  • CAT: Around 60 percentile or above

  • XAT: Around 60 percentile or above

  • CMAT: Around 60 percentile or above

  • MAT: Around 60 percentile or above

  • GMAT: Usually 450–500 and above

These scores are just a general guideline. GIBS also considers your academics, group discussion, and personal interview performance, so doing well overall is more important than just the exam score.

For admission to the PGDM and MBA programs at Global Institute of Business Studies Bangalore, the college accepts common management entrance exams that many business schools use in India.

Usually, they consider scores from exams like:

  • CAT

  • MAT

  • CMAT

  • XAT

  • KMAT / State Level MBA Entrance (if applicable)

These exams help the college understand your aptitude for management studies. Apart from exam scores, they may also look at your academic record and performance in group discussions and personal interviews during the selection process.

This gives students multiple options to apply and increases the chances of getting into the program.

  • GIBS Bangalore usually considers a MAT score around 60–70 percentile for admission to PGDM/MBA programmes.

  • Some sources mention a round‑1 closing percentile of about 64 for PGDM via MAT, indicating that scoring in this range increases chances of selection.

  • The exact cutoff can change slightly each year based on number of applicants, seats, and overall performance in MAT.

So, aiming for at least 60–70 percentile in MAT is a safe target for GIBS Bangalore MBA/PGDM. Best management colleges in Bangalore this is for GIBS Bangalore, not other colleges.
