The prerequisites for studying medicine and health sciences colleges differ amongst institutions. The following are often approved for admission to colleges of medicine and health sciences:
• For UG: Candidates must have completed Class 12 in the Science stream with PCB, or medicine9 Chemistry, and medicine9 For PG: Candidates must hold a degree in the medical or health sciences to qualify for admission to a master's program.

Some colleges do admit applicants based on merit or on the results of their entrance exams.

To be eligible for admission to MBBS course, a candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics Chemistry Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics Chemistry and Biology / Bio-technology at the final examination of the Pre University. In addition, the candidate must have qualified in the merit list of National Eligibility Test NEET MBBS.
