GPAT 2024 is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in online/computer-based mode tentatively in the month of April 2024. The MPharma entrance exam is a gateway to some of the top Pharmacy colleges in India. NTA releases complete information about the GPAT exam on the NTA-GPAT website, The GPAT exam is held in two shifts (morning and forenoon) at the designated test centres across India. The entire GPAT admission process will commence with candidates filling out the GPAT application form. The GPAT admission process will likely commence in February 2024.

After the GPAT registration process, NTA will share the GPAT advance intimation slip which informs candidates about the city in which the GPAT test centre will be situated. Therefore, NTA will issue GPAT admit card/hall tickets only for the candidates who successfully complete the GPAT 2024 application process. After the GPAT exam, NTA will share a provisional GPAT answer key and later on final answer key along with the GPAT result.

Last year, as many as 68,439 candidates registered for the exam and 62,275 candidates appeared for the GPAT entrance exam. In this article, candidates will find detailed information about the GPAT exam, application form, admit card, exam pattern, exam analysis, results, and much more. 

Q:   How many institutes will be participating in GPAT 2023?

A total of 800 pharmaceutical participating institutes are expected to participate in GPAT 2023. NTA does not conduct any counselling for the candidates. GPAT counselling is conducted by individual institutes through their admission committee.

Q:   Can I take GPAT exam on my personal computer?

No, the candidate had to take the test on a pre-assigned computer at the exam centre. The GPAT exam center can be chosen at the time of filling the GPAT application form at the official website GPAT. NTA. Nic. In. There will be three options to choose from several test centers spread across the nation.

What is Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) exam for admission to MPharma or equivalent courses. GPAT scores are accepted by 800 participating institutes and all the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) approved institutions and universities. The exam was conducted by AICTE up to 2017. Approximately 62,275 candidates took the entrance test last year.

The GPAT exam dates was announced by the National Testing Agency, NTA. GPAT 2023 exam was conducted on May 22, 2023. The morning shift of GPAT 2023 began from 9 am to 12 noon and the forenoon shift was conducted from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

GPAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The GPAT 2024 eligibility criteria are set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) which determines the ability and basic acumen of the candidate to appear for the exam. Below are the criteria:

  • The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination of a bachelor’s degree whose result will be declared before the commencement of admission for the academic year 2024-25 can also apply.
  • The candidate must be a citizen of India
  • There is no age restriction for appearing in the national-level entrance exam

GPAT 2024 Application Form

Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a computer-based national-level entrance examination conducted by NTA. NTA will release GPAT application forms for candidates in online mode tentatively in February. The GPAT registration window extends for the period of 30 days once the application process begins. The GPAT application forms will be available at the NTA-GPAT website. Every year,  All AICTE-approved Institutions, University Departments, Constituent Colleges, and Affiliated Colleges shall shortlist qualified students for admission into MPharma.

Q:   Can I directly fill out the GPAT 2023 application form?

No, you cannot fill out the GPAT 2023 application form directly without registering yourself on the NTA GPAT portal. GPAT 2023 registration is mandatory to apply for the national-level entrance exam.

Q:   What is the last date to apply for GPAT 2023 exam?

The GPAT 2023 registration began on February 13, 2023. The last date to apply for GPAT 2023 exam was extended from March 6 to March 13, 2023. The registration window is now closed by NTA. GPAT exam will be held on May 22, 2023 in online mode. The GPAT application forms were available at the NTA-GPAT website. No offline forms were available. Candidates were required to pay the GPAT application fee in online mode only.

GPAT Exam Centres 2024

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the list of locations of the GPAT exam centres, along with other critical exam information. Last year, NTA designated 116 cities around the country as locations for its test centres. Below is the tentative list of centres. Candidates will have to enter four cities of their choice in preferential order. The final GPAT 2024 exam centre will be notified on the admit card.

GPAT Exam Statistics - Previous Year

NTA has shared the statistics regarding the number of candidates registered for the exam on their official website. The number of registered candidates in previous year (2023) was 68,439 and the actual number of appearing candidates was 62,275. The number of registered candidates in 2022 was 53,302 and the actual number of candidates who appeared was 50,508. The table also highlights the increasing popularity of GPAT exam among aspirants since 2019 which has directly pushed the authorities to increase the number of test centers in India.

GPAT 2024 Student Reaction

GPAT exam conducted in the previous year was overall easy to medium difficulty level exam. No change in the exam pattern was reported. The Pharmaceutical Chemistry section is reported to be the most difficult one among the other sections. The Pharmaceutics section was the easiest one. The question based on the reaction and its process was difficult to attempt. Questions were basic and concept-based. Candidates are advised to watch the students' reaction video below:

GPAT Admission Process

The admission process started with the registration process for the examination. Aspirants of the PG entrance test were required to register themselves on the official website. After completion of the registration process, candidates could proceed to fill out the application form.

The applications undergo scrutiny after successful submission. The applicants whose applications are accepted by the NTA will issue the admit card. Candidates then need to appear for an online test.

The results will be declared for the candidates who write the examination, following which the candidates who qualify for the examination participate in the counselling rounds.

To participate in the counselling, candidates will have to apply separately to the desired institute/college. The participating institute basis the applications received released the cut-off scores. Candidates who fall inside the cutoff range get admission to that institute.

GPAT Answer Key 2024

The GPAT final answer key will be released after the exam concludes. NTA generally releases the GPAT provisional answer key within 3 days after the exam concludes. Initially, the GPAT provisional answer keys will be released on the official NTA-GPAT portal. Candidates will have to log in using the application number and password or date of birth to download the answer key. GPAT 2023 answer key carries all the answers to the questions asked in the examination. Candidates can calculate and estimate their scores by using the provisional answer key. Candidates will be provided with the facility to challenge the GPAT answer key by paying INR 200 per question within the stipulated time limit. After a few days, along with the GPAT result, the final GPAT answer key will be shared by NTA.

GPAT 2024 Result

GPAT result will be declared by NTA in online mode at The GPAT 2024 result will be issued in the form of scorecards which can be downloaded in PDF format. Candidates will have to visit the official website to check their scorecard for the national level exam by logging in via their mail ID and roll number.

NTA declared the GPAT 2023 result on July 1. The GPAT 2023 scorecard has been released on the official website of the exam, The exam was conducted on May 22. The exam saw an attendance of 62,275 candidates out of 68,439 registered candidates. Candidates will have to log in to the GPAT 2023 website with their application number and date of birth and security pin and download the GPAT 2023 scorecard in PDF format.

How to check GPAT 2024 Result?

To check GPAT results, candidates should follow these steps on the official website:

  • Visit the official website of GPAT,

  • Click on the 'GPAT 2024 Result' tab

  • Log in using their application number and password/ date of birth and enter the Security Pin

  • Press the 'Sign in' button and then on the 'View result' button

  • Download or save the online scorecard. The candidates are advised to take at least three to four copies printed for future use

GPAT Cutoff - Previous Year

NTA will release the GPAT cutoff and merit list at the official website. The merit list consists of the list of toppers. The merit list has details such as a candidate’s name, roll number, all India rank, sectional scores, sectional percentile, overall percentile, and sectional percentiles.

The merit list will contain the All India Rank (AIR) of qualifiers declared with the result. The percentile determines how many candidates have scored below a particular candidate.

GPAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines

NTA has set a particular guideline that is to be followed by the candidates on GPAT exam day. Below are the GPAT 2024 exam day guidelines in a nutshell:

What to carry on the exam day?

  • Print copy of Admit Card downloaded from NTA’s website.
  • One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded on the Application Form)
  • Original, valid, and non-expired photo ID
  • PWD certificate (if applicable)

What not to carry on the exam day?

  • Textual material, Calculators, Docu-Pen, Slide Rule, Log Tables, and Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, and bits of paper, mobile phone, pager or any other electronic device
  • Smoking, chewing gutka, spitting, etc. in the examination hall is prohibited.

Q:   What is the marking scheme for Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test 2023?

Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks and for every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted. The GPAT marking scheme clearly mentions that no mark will be deducted for unattempted questions.

Q:   How to prepare for GPAT?

Dear aspirant, GPAT Preparation 2022 can be started by going through the exam pattern and syllabus. GPAT Syllabus consists of a total of 19 subjects which are further divided into various sub topics. From all the subjects, Pharmacology carries the maximum weightage. Around 25% to 30% questions are framed from this section. To improve the performance for GPAT 2022, candidates can solve GPAT Sample Papers. For the preparation, candidates need to focus on the numerical problems as around 4 to 5 numerical questions are framed each year. Based on the higher secondary syllabus, some fundamental questions from the section of organic and physical Chemistry are asked in GPAT Exam. With the help of a good GPAT Preparation Strategy, candidates can excel in the exam. GPAT Preparation of Pharmacognosy: There are many theoretical sections in this subject. Candidates need to go through all the sections and note down all the important points. It is helpful for the last-minute revision. As per the analysis from the previous years question, most of the questions came from the section of Senna, Morphine, and Vinca. It is important to read all the basic concepts of the drugs in order to understand their features and effects. It is advised to focus on Pharmacognosy to get good marks in GPAT 2022. GPAT Preparation of Pharmacology As per the feedback by the student, this section is considered as easy and interesting. This section carries a good weightage in GPAT. All candidates are advised to go through the section drugs interaction and mechanisms. Candidates are advised to use acronyms to memorise the name of the drugs. The GPAT exam is generally conducted in one-time slot. In the previous year, the GPAT exam was conducted in the morning slot only from 9 AM to 12 PM. NTA shares the schedule for the GPAT exam day time slots in the official notification at the NTA-GPAT website.

Q:   Can I leave the examination hall if I complete GPAT exam before time?

No, even if you finish the GPAT entrance exam before time, you will not be allowed to leave the examination hall. Candidates will be allowed to leave the examination centre after completion of the designated 3 hours only.

No, applicants having valid GATE/GPAT score do not have to appear in the BITS HD 2024 exam. Candidates need to fill the GATE/GPAT exam details at the time of filling the application form. The iteration result for GPAT/GATE and BITS HD exam will be released separately at the official website.

Yes, GPAT admit card is mandatory to appear for the MPharma entrance exam. Candidates must carry the GPAT admit card at the examination hall as a proof of identification. A clear printout of the downloaded GPAT admit card on A4 sheet along with the valid photo identity proof is required at the test

Candidates are advised to diligently follow all the instructions of the form-filling process and match the eligibility criteria to apply for the GPAT 2023 entrance exam.
