Hotel management is a course in which you learn about all the operational as well as non operational departments of the hotel. Core subjects are:
Food production in this you'll learn about all cuisines an how to prepare them with perfection. Food and beverage service in this you'll be learning about the different beverages and different service styles. Housekeeping in this you'll learn about different SOP's and cleaning standards of the hotel. Front office in this you'll learn about the front office work and responsibilities. Apart from this there are many ancillary subjects in which you learn about different responsibilities of departments.

Dear Rocky, Yes, you can take admission to the B.Sc. (Lateral) in Hotel Management in various universities. Being alumni of LPU I will share the eligibility of this programme at LPU with you. To get admission at LPU, you should have passed with 50% aggregate marks in Diploma (Hotel Management) [ (3 years after 10th ) or (2 years/ 1 year after 10+2)] or equivalent. Let me share a few points about the Hotel Management programme at LPU :
Curriculum: High academic standards are maintained by offering the curriculum framed in consultation with industry experts. Student exposure: Being a part of a resource-rich University, the students have an advantage of interdisciplinary exposure which is not possible in standalone colleges. University-Hotel: The School also trains its students in the campus hotel named UniHotel of 25 rooms hosting national and international guests where students practice along with the staff. Infrastructure: The School has five modern kitchens with two bakeries. All kitchens and bakeries are equipped to enable a student to perform scientifically and to attain their best of learning through the most modern gazettes. We have a few training restaurants to teach a student about the authentic serving style of food and beverage. We are equipped with one front office laboratory, two housekeeping laboratories, two computer laboratories with 60 computers, and a simulation laboratory for aviation. Placement: Good placements record with minimum 10% students selected as Management Trainee (Junior Executive level) till date and the placement is with brands like Cox & Kings, Carnival Cruise, JET Airways, Oberoi, Taj, Leela, etc. The highest package offered for this programme at LPU is INR 8 LPA. Been a faculty at LPU let me share the admission criteria as I am not aware about IIHM. Student have to Pass with 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English or equivalent, a further 5% relaxation is given to North East states and Sikkim candidates/ Defence Personnel and their Dependents/ Wards of Kashmir Migrants).
