For HPCET BTech paper, the candidates will have to attempt multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The topics and units to be studied for the exam are released through the HPCET syllabus. However, for BPharm/BPharm (Ayurveda), the candidates will have to attempt questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The details regarding the HPCET BTech paper is released through the exam pattern at the official website.

Candidates are advised to attempt as many questions as possible in the HPCET paper. However, since there is negative marking in the HPCET paper, the candidates should be careful while choosing their questions and the respective answers. A total of 150 multiple-choice questions have to be attempted from the paper. Out of the provided options, the candidates will have to select the correct option and submit it. To complete the examination, the candidates are allotted three hours.

As per the official HPCET exam pattern, the total duration of the entrance examination is 3 hours 15 minutes. The candidates will have to attempt 150 multiple-choice questions within the allotted time. No extra time will be provided to the candidates to complete the examination. Therefore, the candidates are advised to practice time-management so that they are able to complete the entrance examination within the allotted time limit.

HPCET 2026 exam date has not been announced. The authorities will conduct HPCET 2026 offline i.e., as a pen-and-paper-based test at various centres. The candidates will have to attempt and qualify the entrance exam to be eligible for BTech courses offered by the participating institutes. During the exam, the candidates will have to attempt objective multiple choice questions and the correct answer has to be selected from the available options.

HPCET 2024 counselling dates are yet to be announced. Qualified candidates will be able to register for HPCET counselling 2024 by filling out their basic details. After registration, the candidates will have to upload their documents as per the official specifications and pay the fee online i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. For the seat allotment, the candidates will have to report at the counselling venue as per their allotted date and time. Candidates are advised to stay updated with the HPCET counselling schedule so that they do not miss out on any events.

The authorities of the Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) will prepare the HPCET cutoff. The category-wise HPCET cutoff will allow the authorities to select candidates for admissions into the participating institutes of the state. Based on the various factors related to the entrance exam, the HPCET cutoff will be prepared. Candidates can also check the HPCET cutoff to know the minimum scores that will give them higher chances of admissions into their preferred course and college.

During HPCET counselling, the registered candidates will be allotted seats at the venue. Allotment of seats will be done based on the candidate's rank, preferences, category and seat availability. The authorities will not announce the HPCET seat allotment result online. The candidates will be called in as per their category to the counselling venue and seats will be allotted. While filling out the choices for the counselling, the candidates were advised to select their colleges and courses in the order of preference.

Candidates can use the HPCET cutoff to prepare for their counselling and admission process. The previous year cutoff data can be checked to understand the range of scores that need to be secured to have higher chances of admissions into the preferred course and college. However, other factors such as the category, seat availabilty and more should also be taken into consideration while preparing for the allotment process. Candidates are advised to check the previous year's cutoff trends for an insight into the admission process.

The candidates will not be guaranteed admission even if they meet the HPCET cutoff. However, securing the minimum required score will raise their chances of admission.
